The Owl and The Serpent, 2017
acrylic on recycled birch wood
just under 5" diameter, ready to hang

Kimera Wachna of Gracemere Woods, was born and raised in Westchester, NY. Growing up surrounded by woods, she has always been fascinated by and drawn to the magic and mystery of nature. She graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Photography and Imaging and Studio Art.

Today she primarily works with acrylic paint, and uses recycled wood slices as her canvas to convey life and death, longing, dreams, the connectivity in all things, and spirituality in her creatures and magical realms. Most of her work is 5" and smaller. She believes that being able to hold the piece in your hands, which is painted on age-old free fallen wood, creates a special, unique, and intimate dynamic between the viewer and art, a direct connection to nature itself.
