"UltraViolet" is the Oregon Silverspot Butterfly and its larval host: the hookedspur violet. This Butterly was commonly found along the PNW coastlines; however, due to lack of wildfires and the disappearance of open field hookedspur habitat, the number of Silverspots has plummeted. Efforts are underway in Oregon and Washington to revive the species, which is critically imperiled.”
Bio:
”I am a Natural Science Illustrator and artist, whose focus is primarily on the rare and elusive flora and fauna found in the Pacific Northwest. Through my art I hope to bring awareness to (and spur on conservation efforts for) indigenous species and bring some aspect of our wilderness into the viewer’s every day.”
