Happily Ever After
watercolor on paper
11x15” (framed in 16 x 20 inches white frame)

”This painting is depicting an ideal world where human and other creatures on this planet, in this case butterflies and moths, can coexist in a harmonious way. I used gentle and blissful colors to create a harmonious mood. And I'm hoping the mood together with the fond interaction between the girl and butterflies will inspire people to be more loving and compassionate toward butterflies. All the butterflies in this painting are based on an endangered species in the red list:
Ozark Woodland Swallowtail, Myrtle’s Silverspot, mission blue, miami blue butterfly, Lange’s Metalmark, Karner blue, Hessel’s Hairstreak, palos verde blue, Desert Green Hairstreak, Bauer’s Dotted-Blue, carson wandering skipper, Regal Fritillary, Alberta Fritillary, Arogos Skipper
Bio:
Zoee is a watercolor painter, currently based in Bellevue, WA. Art and nature is an important part for her life since a young age. She grew up in a beautiful town in Southern China and trained under a Chinese traditional painter at a young age. After grown up, she moved to United States to study animation in University of Pennsylvania, and then moved to Seattle after graduation.

Her memory of misty but sometimes sunny scenes of hometown resonates with pacific northwest quite well. This conscious or subconscious link moved her to incorporate East Asian ink wash style into whatever scenery she is painting and also into western watercolor painting style. When she paints, she likes to focus on capturing light and mood, and also has a big affection on interesting curves in the scene. She is very drawn to enlightening colors in nature as well, and fascinated by different personality each season has. As a software engineer and an artist at the same time, she understands how art’s therapeutic power can help current hyper-busy working class with their daily stress and troubles in life, she would love to contribute her effort to that cause through her art.
